“Getting to Know You”
Blog Hop Questions for the

1) How do you remember your first kiss?

Not the way I'd write it in a book, that's for dang sure. No, it wasn't that bad. It just wasn't that good either. Sorta wet. Definitely awkward. And due to his braces, it ended with a small scratch on the corner of my mouth. (I’m still not sure how we managed that.)

2) What was your first favorite love song?

Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now, by STARSHIP! Because it plays at the end of Mannequin, starring Andrew McCarthy who I had a MAJOR thing for despite being five years old when it came out. Twelve year old me was convinced we were made for each other.

3) What’s the first thing you do when you begin writing for the day?

     Cry.

Kidding, I grab a cup of coffee -- one that I will inevitable forget about and end up reheating 100 times before I finish it.

4) Who’s the first writer who truly inspired you to become a writer?

And here’s were I lose all credibility as a reader.

*sigh* I don’t think I can credit my dream of becoming a writer to just one author. I spent my entire childhood with my nose in a book, but I wasn’t obsessed with one writer, I was obsessed with the stories they told and the worlds they created. I wish I could point to one person and be like, “There he/she is. The man/women who inspired me to give up sleep and personal hygiene and become a writer.” But alas, I have to blame them as a whole and not individually.

5) Did the final revision of your first book have the same first chapter it started with?

Yes and no. Sphere still has the same first chapter it started with, but I removed the prologue that used to come before it...because prologues are evil and I hate them. *Sobs* No I don’t. *Hugs old prologue close and strokes it lovingly* “I’ll never let anyone hurt you again.”

6) For your first book, which came first: major characters, plot or setting?

Hmmm. That's hard to say, because this book started as a writing prompt. I was editing another WIP that was making me insane so I decided to write something completely opposite what I was working on -- just for fun. It ended up being a whole novel :)

7) What’s the first word you want to roll off the tip of someone’s tongue when they think of your writing?

      Tantalizing.

Loved Mannequin. My fifteen year old self would've totally taken on twelve year old you for Andrew McCarthy. lol ;) I actually just saw him in a Hallmark movie the other day, and he's not too shabby.

Best of luck!

I love the part about your prologue! I cut mine out...it was aweful. I cut it before I realized prologues are the devil. I liked it even though it was really bad. Good luck and nice to meet you. STARSHIP ~ We built this city...what a jam! VH1 voted worst lyrics of all time. I still love it, even to this day!

haha your answers are hilarious! love the prologue part too :) and i couldn't point to a single writer for inspiration either, so i guess we're both shams!

I have lost so many cups to the reheating machine... *sobs* it's heartbreaking when the microwave shatters them. *ahem*
STARSHIP! Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now. Writing anthem.. or is it road trip music? Go with both, problem solved.

Good Luck!

Okay due to my astonishing lack of tech skills...I can't seem to respond individually to your comments -- no matter how much I beg, plead and cuss at my laptop.

So, I apologize for my rudeness and bulk response, but it's the best I can manage. I am truly grateful for your comments and for stopping by to read my answers too! I've got my fingers, toes & eyes crossed that we all make it to the next round. (And yes, I know that can't happen, but I'm still praying anyway :)

I can totally relate to your answer number four. Growing up I read so many stories, but never really paid much attention to the authors' names. I simply loved the worlds they created and longed to create my own just as they did. Now that I've created my own worlds, I want to share them with others just like they did with me. :)

I love that you have to reheat my coffee a hundred times too!! I thought I was the only one! Thanks for pointing out my missing questions... I don't know what happened when I copied from a word doc.

Love this! Your answers are hilarious -- especially the first one. And I'm with you; I wasn't obsessed with just one author as a kid. I loved BOOKS, and I think they all inspired me.
